Mini Book Club: A Heart That Works by Rob Delaney

We’re back!

Well, mostly. We’re finally ready to kick off a new round of books for the Skip to the End Book Club, a group dedicated to reading books about all things related to death and dying. That includes musings about mortality, existential rabbit holes, connections to deeply emotional personal stories, practical information about preparing for death and caring for the dying, and more.

To get us started off on the right foot, let’s start with something that is short, moving, and with a powerful dose of that special sense of humor that often accompanies unfathomable loss.

A Heart that Works is a father’s perspective on the illness and loss of his infant son. Rob Delaney is a successful comedy writer who brings a particular sensibility of laughable incredulity to his and his family’s experiences as they navigate hospitalizations, test after test, procedure after procedure, all while doing everything in their power to enjoy being a family and raising a beautiful baby.

We’ll come together for a virtual discussion to talk about our experiences with the book and share perspectives in compassionate and open-hearted exchange.

This will be a virtual event. To attend: Register Via Zoom
